Amber's career goal and dream was always to find employment in administration work, however her speech impediment which was impacting her ability to secure employment, and she had unfortunately failed many times at the interview stage
as a result.
Amber was linked to Youth Projects Employment Services, which assisted her in completing an accredited Certificate II in Business Administration. Amber's Youth Projects Employment Advisor also worked intensively with her to build her confidence and help her consider other career pathways.
Youth Projects Employment Services has a specialised Employment Development Officer who works with job seekers and employers to try to create a 'perfect match' between job seekers and employers.
Our Employment Development Officer worked intensively with Amber and found an employer who was understanding of Amber's barriers but also recognised that Amber had many strengths. Our Employment Development Officer attended the first job interview with Amber and was able to assist in promoting the strengths and exceptional personal qualities that would make Amber an excellent employee.
Happily, Amber was offered a Business Administration Traineeship by the employer and commenced early this year. Amber loves her role and is excited to be pursuing her dream of working in Administration. Youth Projects Employment services staff are still on hand to assist Amber and the employer while Amber continues to work.
